Case Study
MeetingPoint
Overview
A browser-based, peer-to-peer (P2P) communication platform with zero registration, true P2P communication via WebRTC, ephemeral design, and low-bandwidth optimization.
Business Challenge
Existing video call tools demand accounts, log calls, and struggle on low bandwidth — there was no private, zero-friction way to talk.
Why It Was Built
Built for privacy-first communication: open a link, share the room, talk — no registration, no history, no logs, true peer-to-peer media.
Target Users
Anyone needing instant private calls — remote teams, families, interviews — especially on weak connections.
Architecture
True P2P: WebRTC carries media directly between browsers; Socket.IO handles only signaling; nothing is recorded or stored; PeerJS simplifies the RTC layer; low-bandwidth mode degrades gracefully.
Deployment
Node.js/Express signaling server on a VPS behind Nginx with a TURN/STUN configuration for NAT traversal.
Scalability
Media never touches the server — signaling is lightweight, so a single small server supports many concurrent rooms.
Challenges
- Registration barriers
- Privacy concerns
- High bandwidth usage
- Limited browser compatibility
Solutions
- Zero registration
- True P2P communication
- Ephemeral design
- Low-bandwidth optimization
